Expectations and Salutations...

I see a lot of women online (and sometimes in real life) saying the same thing. They want a guy to take them to nice dinners, go on getaways and travel the world, someone tall, confident and successful. Well sweetheart, those guys are the minority.

What you're looking for exists in romance novels and movies and usually stars some skinny awkward female and a guy in skinny jeans with long hair & abs yet still finds it hard to talk to women because he's "shy".

How about someone who gets you, someone who instead of taking you to a nice dinner instead they will cook dinner with you? Maybe a guy who isn't wanted by every woman out there but just wants to be wanted by one? Maybe a guy who's good to have around when the power goes out, the car breaks down or you need to figure out how to operate the remote? Not some guy who's going to just pick up a phone and call someone to solve all your problems. Because honestly, chances are he's solving other problems with other people that he could be solving with you.

Relationships are a partnership. There's communication & participation involved.

Now don't get me wrong, I know a lot of guys out there who will let the garbage pile up and the faucet leak while the car is a few thousand miles past its oil change and the dog has shit in every room of the house and the kids are wearing the same clothes from yesterday. In my experience, those were the guys the women chased after and frankly as far as I'm concerned, they got what they deserved.

But then there's guys who get their hands dirty while she's right there with him. They're mowing the lawn with the kid helping (I don't condone toddlers wielding power tools but hey, as long as you're at least practicing safety..). There's also guys who will sit through those romantic comedies or will lay in bed for hours listening to her gab on about absolutely nothing until it actually all comes to a point and he finally figures out that all she wanted to say was the heel on her shoe broke at work.

Finding a guy with all of that wrapped into one package isn't very likely and they truly are a minority. But why aren't women looking for those minorities? Well because generally they aren't wrapped in very attractive packages. (Hi!!!! *waves*) At least not according to majority of society.

But that's fine. Let's take me, for instance. I'm not the best catch in the world. I have my issues, though they aren't quite as severe as some and don't require medication or self medication at that. I've made my mistakes in life, which I'm not "Paying for" but have learned from and slowing moving past it. I spun a giant negative in my life into a positive that has helped me through a lot tougher shit, like being an actual adult, being responsible paying bills all while trying to keep a damn good credit background. Who the hell cares about all of that stuff?!?!

While I say I'm single by choice, that is mostly true. I chose to keep to myself mostly because I've had not so good experiences with the dating I've done in the last few years. Maybe it's a geographical issue, maybe it's just the ones I'm attracted to or that I'm too open and easy. I've had great mental connections, great sex, great potential for even raising a family with good values and morals. But lately I can't seem to bring myself to find someone who I can say "Hey, she seems like a decent human being."

There's a lot of scams out there. Not the fake email asking you to give them your credit card info or that you've won some third world lottery. Scams as in people not being honest with their intentions, their issues or themselves. So let's reflect a little and look at what we really need, not what we saw on TV or in a book that sounded good. Because frankly. Christian Grey is a sexual predator by definition but it's only ok because he's rich. There's plenty of us more normal guys that would put you in your place in the bedroom and thrill the panties right off of you, if we even let you wear the panties at all.
